Students at St. Anthony School in Hawthorne, N.J. paid tribute to our nation’s veterans in two ceremonies on Nov. 11. In the morning, the first- and eighth-grade classes walked to Hawthorne’s municipal building to participate in the town’s Veteran’s Day services. Later that day, the school invited more than 25 veterans who are connected to members of the St. Anthony School community to participate in a prayer service at the school. Hawthorne Mayor John Lane and Father Brendon Harfmann, parochial vicar of St. Anthony Parish, attended the ceremony which was organized by St. Anthony staff members Michele Hancewicz, Jazmin Parra, and Salesian Sister Mary Jackson, St. Anthony’s principal.
