Rooted in nearly 155 years of tradition, faith, values, and academic excellence, St. Patrick School in Chatham continues to stand as a leader in Catholic education. While the school’s vibrant community shines year-round, March holds special significance, bringing together students, faculty, and families in celebration.
The festivities extend beyond shamrocks and leprechauns, reflecting the heart of a community grounded in faith and service. A highlight was Mass celebrated by Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney, honoring Irish heritage and reinforcing the school’s deep spiritual foundation.
Families and community members also gathered for a variety of events that foster connection and school spirit. Parents enjoyed an adults-only celebration at the Summit Elks Lodge, while students and their families took part in cherished traditions such as the “Shamrock Ball” for daughters and their special fellows, as well as a lively mother-son bowling event.

Central to the school’s mission, service projects underscore both the service-learning component of the curriculum and the reflective season of Lent, encouraging students to live out their faith through meaningful action.
The celebration culminates on St. Patrick’s Day itself — an occasion marked by one of the school’s most beloved traditions. For decades, bagpipers have welcomed students, faculty, and families, creating an atmosphere that rivals any parade. Students were greeted by “Lucky the Lion,” and were led into the school day by the spirited sounds of pipes and drums.
