On Oct. 26, 40 Companions of Pauline, associates of the Sisters of Christian Charity, came together at the motherhouse in Mendham for their annual day of retreat, “Called to be ‘Carriers of the Charism.’”
Sister of Christian Charity Joseph Spring, co-director of the Companions of Pauline for the North American Province, welcomed the group and shared a prayer used during the international meeting of the directors from Germany, South America, and the Philippines.
Sister Geralyn Schmidt, assistant to the president of Assumption College for Sisters in Denville and the college’s student services director, led the companions in reflecting on the charism of the Sisters of Christian Charity and what it means to be a “Charism Carrrier” in their particular lifestyle.
Benedictine Father Jerome Borski celebrated a Mass, followed by a meal with the sisters.
Participants received a picture of Blessed Pauline von Mallinckrodt, foundress of the Sisters of Christian Charity, which had been placed on her grave in Paderborn, Germany, during the international meeting there.
