Fifteen Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia were honored on June 9 in Our Lady of Angels Chapel in Aston, Pa., for their 70, 50, and 25 years of religious profession and service.
The 2024 jubilarians included two sisters, who previously served the Paterson Diocese. More than 165 members of the community and their companions attended the event.
Sister Isabel Marie Haughey celebrated 70 years of religious service. She previously ministered in the diocese as a volunteer at St. Joseph Residence in Ringwood, from 2009 to 2010.
Sister Ronnie Grier (formerly Sister Veronica Paul) celebrated 50 years of religious profession. She previously ministered in the diocese in education. Sister Grier was a teacher and principal at St. Francis School in the Haskel neighborhood of Wanaque from 1973 to 1974 and from 1981 to 1984 and at Mount Carmel School in Passaic from 1978 to 1981 and 1984 to 1987. She also served as development director at Mount St. Francis Convent in Ringwood from 1990 to 2001.
The 15 jubilarians represent 965 years of service in 23 states and 25 dioceses, including in Africa and Puerto Rico.
The Sisters of St. Francis of Phila-delphia is a community of about 295 Catholic women religious, who choose a Gospel way of life lived in community and uphold a long and honored tradition of loving God and being in relationships through loving service. They live the Gospel in the spirit of Francis of Assisi and their foundress Mother Francis Bachmann.
