Russell D. Petrocelli, principal of DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne, has been elected president of the N.J. State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) for the 2024-2025 school year.

Established in 1918, the NJSIAA is a voluntary, non-profit organization comprised of about 440 accredited public and non-public high schools. Its mission is to assist member schools in providing equitable education-based interscholastic athletic opportunities that support academic achievement, good sportsmanship, and fair play for student-athletes.

“Athletics have evolved as a pathway to higher education. It is important that these young men and women understand that they are students first and academics are their priority,” Petrocelli said.

Petrocelli is starting his eighth year at DePaul.
