Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney visited DePaul Catholic School in Wayne, N.J., on Sept. 26 to celebrate Mass and open the 2026–27 academic year now under way. The bishop also welcomed Stephen D. Trivino, DePaul’s new principal.
Concelebrating the Mass with Bishop Sweeney were Father Frank Lennie and Father Brian Ditullio, chaplains at DePaul, and Father John Tarantino, a retired priest of the Paterson Diocese, DePaul Class of 1968, and a former DePaul staff member. Ted Gaffney, the school’s president, participated in the Mass along with students who served as altar servers, lectors, and music ministers.
Mary Baier, diocesan schools superintendent; Filippini Sister Marie Antonelli, principal of Holy Spirit School in Pequannock, N.J.; and students from St. James Academy in Totowa, N.J., also attended the Mass.
