Altar servers learn about Jesus’ True Presence in the Eucharist

Altar Servers Day of the Paterson Diocese was held on Sept. 14 at St. Paul Inside the Walls in Madison.

More than 150 altar servers, their parents, clergy, religious, and Knights of Columbus attended the event. It helped participants strengthen their faith and learn about the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.

The event included workshops on the Eucharist and vocations; Mass, a Eucharistic procession, and Benediction with Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney; and lunch, games, and sports for the youth.

Father Stephen A. Delia Jr., the parochial vicar of St. Mary Parish in Denville, spoke about the Eucharist. John Peter Zappe, a diocesan seminarian, talked about vocations to the priesthood. Sister Sunny Padayattil, the vocations director of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Elizabeth in Parsippany, spoke about vocations to religious life.

The Paterson Federation of the Knights of Columbus and the diocesan Vocations Office sponsored the event.
