Academy of St. Elizabeth opens school year with Mass

The Academy of St. Elizabeth in the Convent Station neighborhood of Morris Township on Sept. 10 welcomed Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney, who celebrated a Mass in Holy Family Chapel for the opening of the academic year with the school community.

“I was happy to encourage the students to learn about the life and example of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, founder of the Sisters of Charity [who sponsor St. Elizabeth’s] and our parochial (Catholic) School system,” Bishop Sweeney posted on social media.

Bishop Sweeney also cited the Hallow prayer app as a way students could discover more about the saints and grow in holiness throughout the school year ahead — and their entire life.

“Following the Mass, Bishop Sweeney greeted students for a brief chat with refreshments,” which included students expressing “gratitude for the incredibly uplifting visit,” the Academy of St. Elizabeth posted on social media.
