Speaker, singer explores spiritual transformation at Youth Conference

ValLimar Jansen, a world-renowned presenter, spoke —and sang — about being “Transformed by Christ’s Love,” the theme of the 2024 Diocesan Youth Conference, held on Nov. 3 at St. Elizabeth University in the Convent Station neighborhood of Morris Township. She was the conference’s keynote speaker.

Jansen invited the 350 junior high—and high school-age students from around the Paterson Diocese to examine faith through her reenactment of two New Testament stories: the Samaritan woman and Jesus healing the man born blind. During her presentations, she led the youth in singing faith-filled songs.

Jansen is a nationally and internationally known inspirational and catechetical speaker, singer, composer, and recording artist.

The youth conference also offered activities, music, and worship that Sunday afternoon. Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney briefly spoke to the young people and celebrated a closing Mass in Holy Family Chapel on campus. The youth choir of St. Virgil Parish in Morris Plains provided the worship music.

The Diocesan Youth Ministry Office sponsored the youth conference.
