Salesian Sister Elizabeth Russo, skilled seamstress, 91

Salesian Sister Elizabeth Russo died on Feb. 8. She was 91. For 64 years, she was a professed member of the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.

One of five children, Sister Russo was born in Palermo, Sicily, Italy, in 1933, She made her first profession as a Salesian Sister in Newton in 1960.

Sister Russo was a diligent and prayerful soul known at the Provincial House for joyfully welcoming people with song. For many years, she served the elderly and sick sisters with respect. Sister Russo also spent several years as a cook and wardrobe attendant in various communities. She was a skilled seamstress. Sister Russo spent hours and days at the sewing machine in the Novitiate.

A brother and a sister survive Sister Russo.
