Religious Summer Gathering mixes prayer with friendly competition

Men and women religious came together for a prayerful and fun-filled evening with Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney on Sept. 6 during the annual Summer Gather-ing of Newer Religious at Mary Help of Christians Aca-demy in North Haledon.

Sisters and brothers; novices and postulants; and seminarians and the recently ordained participated in the gathering. They prayed during adoration in St. Joseph Chapel. Participants also engaged in friendly competition, playing ping-pong, volleyball, and basketball.

Bishop Sweeney posted on social media, “Thanks to Salesian Sister Theresa Lee, our Chancellor/Delegate for Religious, for the organization and invita-tions; to the Salesian Sisters and ‘Mary Help’ community for hosting; and to the Knights of Columbus for ‘catering’ and servicing a delicious meal.”
