Polish Mission marks 15 years of promoting an active faith life

Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in the Hewitt neighborhood of West Milford on Sept. 8 marked the 15th anniversary of its Polish Mission community with a Mass in Polish.

Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney concelebrated the Mass with Polish-born Bishop Witold Mroziewski, an auxiliary bishop of the Brooklyn Diocese. Father Kamil Stachowiak, Queen of Peace’s pastor; Father Aleksander Bialas, its parochial vicar; and many other priests concelebrated the Mass.

The mission’s tight-knit Polish community comes from West Milford and beyond. It offers Masses and devotions in Polish; retreats; religious formation, including religious education for children; and activities for fellowship. Members are also active in Queen of Peace’s ministries and activities.

Bishop Emeritus Arthur J. Serratelli established the Polish Mission at Queen of Peace in 2009.
