Recital to feature internationally acclaimed organist, vocalist

St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Butler will hold a recital with organist Samuel Gaskin and vocalist Jacqueline Matava on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 5 p.m.

Music will feature works by Bach, Langlais, Liszt, Holst, and Oscar Peterson.

Samuel Gaskin is the organist of the American Church in Paris and won first prize in improvisation in the International St. Albans Organ Competition in 2023. He is also a classical and jazz piano professor at the Ecole de Musique in Le Chesnay Rocquencourt, France.

Jacqueline Matava won the American Prize for Women in Art Song 2023. She is an associate professor of music at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and a member of the voice faculty at Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Lenox, Mass.

A reception will follow the recital. The suggested offering is $20.
