Rainy skies couldn’t dim Mary Help graduation smiles

Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney distributed diplomas to 41 graduates of Mary Help of Christians Academy in North Haledon during a commencement ceremony on June 7 in the gym. Valedictorian Fiorella Del Orbe, who will attend Carnegie Mellon University, and Salutatorian Gabriella Gaccione, who will attend Stevens Institute of Technology, addressed the audience with heartfelt memories and aspirations.

Honored guests included Mary Baier, Paterson Diocesan schools superintendent; John Bacsik, associate superintendent; Salesian Sister Colleen Clair, provincial; and Salesian Sister Kelly Schuster, head of school at Mary Help. Though rain kept the cap toss indoors, it couldn’t dampen the joy and pride of the day.
