As new priest, Father Harfmann celebrates his first Mass

A day after becoming a Paterson Diocesan priest, Father Brendon John Harfmann was principal celebrant for his first Mass of Thanksgiving at Our Lady of the Magnificat Parish in Kinnelon on June 8.

Father Harfmann and Father Joseph Samuel DeMarzo III were ordained priests by Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney during a Mass he celebrated at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Paterson on June 7.

Father Jose Henriquez of the Brooklyn Diocese delivered the homily at the June 8 Mass, which several priests concelebrated. Bishop Emeritus Raymond F. Chappetto, who retired from the Brooklyn Diocese, attended in choir. Some of Father Harfmann’s loved ones participated in the liturgy.

Father Harfmann has been assigned as parochial vicar of St. Anthony Parish in Hawthorne to start his priestly ministry.
