Prayerful visit

St. Vincent de Paul Parish in the Stirling neighborhood of Long Hill Township and the Knights of Columbus St. Damien Council 6575 welcomed the Silver Rose on Oct. 3.

The Silver Rose commemorates St. Juan Diego and the miracle of the roses, an important part of Our Lady of Guadalupe’s story. It stopped at St. Vincent’s on its pilgrimage from Canada through New Jersey to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico.

That night, Father Hernan Cely, St. Vincent’s pastor, led an outdoor Eucharistic procession and rosary recitation as the parish welcomed the Silver Rose. The Knights sponsored the event.

Past Supreme Knight Carl Anderson said, “We honored Our Lady of Guadalupe, expressed the Knights’ unity, and reaffirmed the order’s dedication to the sanctity of human life.”
