Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney has appointed Father T. Kevin Corcoran, pastor of Corpus Christi Parish in Chatham Township, as the Minister to Priests of the Paterson Diocese, effective Feb. 11, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.
The Minister to Priests is an essential resource of the presbyterate. He maintains a relationship of privileged confidence with the diocese’s priests, providing outreach and support for priests in crisis, personal transition, or needing help. Also, reflecting Bishop Sweeney’s pastoral concern for the presbyterate, the Minister to Priests conveys the diocese priests’ thoughts, feelings, and needs.
Father Corcoran is an experienced pastor highly regarded by the presbyterate. He is exceptionally equipped with compassion and integrity to help others grow and succeed in their ministry.
Reflecting his pastoral concern for the presbyterate and recognizing the importance of the Ministry to Priests Program developed under Msgr. Thomas J. Trapasso, Bishop Emeritus Arthur J. Serratelli appointed Msgr. Peter J. Doody as the diocese’s first Minister to Priests in 2004. Bishop Serratelli appointed Father David McDonnell as the Minister to Priests in 2018. Father McDonnell served in the role until his retirement in 2024.
“I’m excited and honored to minister to the priests of the diocese, who face so many challenges — lots of twists and turns — like in other vocations. I look forward to listening to and offering support to them in their times of difficulty and transition,” Father Corcoran said.
