Morris Catholic opens school year with Mass

Morris Catholic High School in Denville on Sept. 17 welcomed Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney, who celebrated a Mass to open the academic year.

“We were honored to celebrate Mass with Bishop Kevin Sweeney. We were joined by many visiting priests and deacons and by students from All Saints School [in Parsippany] and Saint Patrick School [in Chatham],” Morris Catholic posted on social media.

Father Peter Clarke, Morris Catholic president, and Father Carmen Buono, a retired diocesan priest and a part-time chaplain for the school, were among the Mass concelebrants.

Bishop Sweeney blessed the Morris Catholic community and helped the school rededicate its newly remodeled Advancement Suite. Fred and Peggy Ecke, a married alumni couple, were recognized for their contributions to the original construction of the facility.
