On Sept. 4, the Knights of Columbus Marquette Council 588 of Sussex County, N.J., held its annual Sparta Senior Summer barbecue. Father Richard Carton, council chaplain, pastor of Our Lady of the Lake Parish in Sparta, and vice president of the Catholic Academy of Sussex County, led the event. The knights hosted 50 senior citizens for an evening of food and fellowship.
For more than 125 years, the Marquette Council has supported the parish communities of Our Lady of the Lake in Sparta, N.J., St. Thomas of Aquin in Ogdensburg, N.J., and Immaculate Conception in Franklin, N.J., with acts of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism.
