An Our Lady of Fatima statue at St. Joseph Parish in Lincoln Park, which was recently restored, has found a new home after years of being moved to various locations on the parish’s property. On May 21, Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney visited St. Joseph’s to celebrate Mass and bless and dedicate the statue in its new location.
The Fatima statue, depicting the Blessed Mother standing on a cloud and holding rosary beads, is situated on a granite base on the side of the church, facing the parking lot. The base bears plaques commemorating the 100th anniversary of St. Joseph’s in 2022, the dedication of the statue on May 21, and an image of Our Lady of Fatima appearing to the three shepherd children in Portugal in 1917.

Years back, the Fatima statue was removed from the front of the church on Comly Road to make way for new stairs. Ana Maria Arroyave, who restores religious items, cleaned the statues, stripped off its white paint, and applied cream color paint with gold detailing.
Father Artur Zaba, pastor of St. Joseph’s, concelebrated the May 21 Mass with Bishop Sweeney. Deacon Vince Ricciardi assisted with the liturgy. The Knights of Columbus John F. Kennedy Council 5486 participated in the Mass and dedication.
