Father Edward Davey, a retired priest of the Diocese, celebrated his 99th birthday on Oct. 4 at Merry Heart Senior Care in the Succasunna neighborhood of Roxbury Township. Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney visited Father Davey for the occasion. Father Davey has been a priest for 71 years. Before retirement, he was pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Newton for 19 years.
Bishop Sweeney posted photos on Instagram with the message: “Happy 99th Birthday to Fr. Ed Davey!! I was very happy to be able to wish Fr. Davey a Happy Birthday and visit with him and some of our retired priests at ‘Merry Heart’ Assisted Living in Succasunna. Thanks to Mrs. Blanche Bonafacio and all the wonderful staff at Merry Heart for all the TLC they show to our priests and all the residents!!”
