Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney invites young people of the Paterson Diocese, ages 16 to 35, to join him on what promises to be a life-changing spiritual experience: following him on a pilgrimage to World Youth Day (WYD) 2027 in Seoul, Korea.
The Paterson Diocese asks youth people to “save the date” for the pilgrimage to WYD, which Bishop Sweeney plans to lead. The official dates will be announced this summer.
WYD is an international Catholic Church event organized by the Holy See, typically held about every three years in a different city. It’s a pilgrimage experience for young people, where they gather with the pope and millions of others to celebrate their faith, deepen their understanding of the Church, and strengthen their relationship with Christ.

“This incredible journey of faith and fellowship will bring together young people from around the world for a life-changing experience of Church, where our young people can be united as one diocesan family with Bishop Kevin Sweeney,” according to the Paterson Diocesan Evangelization Office.
The estimated cost of the WYD pilgrimage, based on double occupancy, is $4,800 to $5,000 per person, including airfare from John F. Kennedy International Airport.
