DePaul Catholic High School on June 5 held Mass and commencement for its 112 graduates. The valedictorian was Allison Behrens. The salutatorian was Sydney McHale. John Merritt, Class of 1971 and retiring DePaul president, received the school’s Apostle of Charity Award. It pays tribute to a DePaul community member, who has lived out Christian charity synonymous with the school’s patron, St. Vincent DePaul; has made contributions that have enriched the lives of others; and has made a lasting impact on DePaul and the community it serves. Also, Dana Sevean of DePaul’s theology department received an honorarium from the Dawn DeStefano Memorial Endowment Fund. The DeStefano family established the fund in memory of their daughter, Dawn, Class of 1982, to benefit a member of the school’s teaching staff.
