Butler parish celebrates feast day of St. Francis, Franciscans’ founder

The Franciscan Friars and faith community of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Butler commemorated the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the founder of the Franciscan orders, on Oct. 4 with Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney, who celebrated Mass.

Several friars, including Father Matthew Pravetz, St. Anthony’s pastor, concelebrated the Mass with Bishop Sweeney. The friars also administer a retirement house on St. Anthony’s grounds.

Also attending the Mass were members of the Secular Franciscan Order and religious sisters from local communities, led by Salesian Sister Theresa Lee, diocesan chancellor and delegate for religious.
