Women explore call to protect life at Madison brunch

On Feb. 28, women from across New Jersey gathered at St. Paul Inside the Walls in Madison for the Respect Life Office’s quarterly Feminine Genius Brunch Series, hosted by the Paterson Diocese.

Maria Moncaleano, director of the diocesan Hispanic Ministry, reflected on the Church’s teaching on the “feminine genius,” focusing especially on women’s call to protect and nurture life at every stage.

Participants created flower bouquets and dedicated them to babies in the Angel Section of St. Vincent’s Cemetery at St. Vincent Martyr Parish. This act symbolized women’s nurturing role.

After placing the flowers, Alyssa Renovales, diocesan respect life coordinator, and Julie McGurn, respect life coordinator for St. Vincent’s, lingered in quiet prayer together in the Angel Section. Renovales said, “Praying the Eternal Rest prayer together before leaving made the words deeply tangible and reminded us profoundly of the sacred dignity of every life.”

All women are invited to participate in the Feminine Genius Brunch Series to explore the dignity and vocation of women in the Church and in the world. Together, participants seek to deepen their faith and strengthen their witness to the Gospel of Life.

Eniola Honsberger, director of the diocesan Office of Family Life, will speak about “Courageous Witness” during the next session of the Feminine Genius Brunch Series on Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to noon, at St. Paul Inside the Walls. Tickets are $20 each.
