Two diocesan seminarians declare intentions to become priests

On Nov. 23, Jairo Jaramillo and John Peter Zappe, seminarians of the Paterson Diocese in New Jersey, were among 16 seminarians of Immaculate Conception Seminary in South Orange, N.J., and Redemptoris Mater Seminary in Kearny, N.J., to enter candidacy, a formal step in which they publicly declared their intentions to be ordained as a priest.

That morning, Auxiliary Bishop Elias R. Lorenzo, O.S.B., regional bishop for Union County in the Newark Archdiocese, also in New Jersey, presided over the Rite of Admission to Candidacy during a Mass in Holy Family Parish in Nutley, N.J. Jaramillo is in his first year of theology at Immaculate Conception. Zappe is in his second year of theology, also at Immaculate Conception.
