Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney blessed a recently installed tabernacle at St. Clement Pope and Martyr Parish in Rockaway Township during a Mass on Feb. 16 in the church.
The new tabernacle in the church’s main worship space is larger than the one it replaced and better accommodates St. Clement’s sacred vessels for Mass. The improvement project included new sanctuary lights and candles and was funded by parishioners’ memorial donations. The old tabernacle is being used in the church’s chapel. Parishioners also raised funds for new chalices and patens last year.

Bishop Sweeney gave the homily for the Mass, which he celebrated in English and Spanish. Father Giovanni Rodriguez, St. Clement’s pastor, concelebrated the Mass with the bishop. A large portrait of St. Clement, painted by a now-deceased parishioner, was displayed on the altar. A “Coffee and…” social occurred after the liturgy.
