Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney helped 25 priests celebrate significant anniversaries of their priesthood — from 40 to 70 years in priestly ministry — during the annual Diocesan Priests’ Jubilee Mass on June 2 at Corpus Christi Church in Chatham Township. He thanked all the honored priests for saying “yes” to God’s call to the priesthood.
The liturgy honored diocesan priests, both those in active ministry and those in retirement, as well as priests of religious orders. The list of honorees’ names and milestone years is provided below. Bishop Sweeney served as the main celebrant of the Mass. The liturgy is part of the diocese’s many activities marking the Jubilee Year of Hope, which the Universal Church is observing.
Msgr. Joseph T. Anginoli, a Jubilarian marking 50 years in ministry, was invited to deliver the homily. He is the pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Mendham and an adjunct judicial vicar of the Paterson Diocesan Tribunal.

Many priests concelebrated the Jubilee Mass with Bishop Sweeney, including Jubilarians and other priests. He led the Jubilarians in renewing their priestly promises.
Bishop Sweeney thanked the Jubilarians for their priestly ministries to the diocese. He offered a prayer for their longevity, which was followed by applause from the congregation.
A lunch followed the Mass.
