Paterson, Totowa Memorial Day Masses honor war dead

Annual Masses were held at Calvary Cemetery in Paterson and Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa to honor those who have died serving in the U.S. military on Memorial Day, May 19.

Pictured is Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney, serving as the principal celebrant of the Mass at Calvary Cemetery. Father Peter VB Wells, director of the diocesan Cemetery Office and pastor of Our Lady of the Valley and Holy Cross parishes in Wayne, concelebrated the Mass with the bishop.

At Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Msgr. Geno Sylva, rector of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Paterson and diocesan vicar for special projects, celebrated the Mass. Father Marc Mancini, pastor of St. James of the Marches Parish in Totowa and diocesan judicial vicar; Father Starli J. Castanos, a parochial vicar at the cathedral; and Msgr. Anthony Frontiero, vicar general of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, concelebrated the Mass.
