Passaic parish lauds festival volunteers, city officials

St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Passaic on July 31 honored donors and volunteers of its recent festival, Passaic Mayor Hector C. Lora, and the city’s police and fire departments.

Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney blessed and then presented the awards at a bilingual Mass he celebrated on July 31. The Passaic Fire Department parked a hook and ladder truck outside the church.

Father Javier Bareño, St. Antony’s pastor; Father Jose M. Zuniga; and Dominican Father Alexis Coffi Gonzalez concelebrated the Mass with Bishop Sweeney.

Father Coffi was appointed a St. Anthony’s parochial vicar, effective July 1. Father Zuniga, also a St. Anthony’s parochial vicar, was named parochial vicar of St. Vincent Martyr Parish in Madison, effective Sept. 1.
