The Shrine of St. Joseph community in the Stirling neighborhood of Long Hill Township, N.J., welcomed Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney on Oct. 23 as it celebrated 101 years of serving God’s people and nurturing a missionary spirit in them.

The Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity, who run St. Joseph’s, and friends and supporters of the shrine, joined together for the Annual Dinner of Gratitude that evening. The event began with prayer, followed by a moving Mass in the chapel, celebrated by Bishop Sweeney and concelebrated by the Trinitarian and Paterson Diocesan priests in attendance.

The celebration continued with a dinner at the Primavera Regency, also in Long Hill Township.

“We are profoundly grateful to all who joined us — to our honorees, sponsors, volunteers, and every person whose love and generosity made this night possible. Your presence is a living witness to God’s goodness. Because of you, the shrine continues to be a sacred place of peace, healing, and hope, especially for those who are recovering, grieving, or searching for God’s comfort,” according to St. Joseph Shrine’s website, www.shrineofsaintjoseph.com.

St. Joseph’s was founded on April 24, 1924, by Father Thomas Judge, C.M. The shrine has provided missionary service dedicated to preserving the faith and fostering a missionary spirit among the laity. St. Joseph’s offers adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, daily reconciliation, and live-streamed Masses. The shrine welcomes visitors to experience the Oratory of St Joseph, featuring a beautiful mosaic depicting key moments in the saint’s life.
