A gathering of Paterson Diocesan Catholics of all ages took to the streets of Morristown, N.J. on Aug. 2 to pray for the protection of the unborn and an end to abortion during an outdoor rosary procession.
Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney led a large group of pro-life advocates in a rosary walk to Planned Parenthood on Speedwell Avenue. A few of them carried signs in English and Spanish, such as “I Am Pro-Life,” that promoted respect for life as they prayed for an end to abortion.
Before the procession, Bishop Sweeney celebrated Mass in St. Margaret of Scotland Church. Father Duberney Villamizar, pastor of St. Margaret’s and diocesan vicar for Hispanic affairs; Father Sebastian Munoz, the parish’s parochial vicar; and Father Jose M. Zuniga, parochial vicar of St. Vincent Martyr Parish in Madison, N.J. concelebrated the Mass.
The Respect Life event included Eucharistic adoration.
A Mass and procession for life is held on the first Saturday of the month at 8 a.m. at St. Margaret’s. Priests and the faithful from around the diocese are invited to join.
