Kindergarteners inspired by St. Gerard Majella’s faith story

During Catholic Schools Week, Divine Mercy Academy (DMA) in Rockaway welcomed Father Chris Aleti, administrator of St. Lucy’s Church and the National Shrine of St. Gerard in Newark and a member of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus. He shared the inspiring story of St. Gerard Majella, the patron saint of mothers and children, with DMA’s kindergarteners.

Father Aleti brought blessed medals and pins for each child, reminding them of St. Gerard’s intercession and God’s love.

“To make the day even more memorable, Father Aleti gave the children a special blessing, filling our classroom with faith, joy, and grace,” DMA posted on social media. “We are so grateful for this incredible opportunity to share such a meaningful part of our faith with our youngest students.”

The kindergarteners and their fifth-grade buddies will visit St. Lucy’s and The National Shrine of St. Gerard for a spiritual retreat in the spring.
