Denville high school welcomes local students to bishop’s Mass

Morris Catholic High School in Denville, N.J. on Oct. 24 welcomed Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney, who celebrated a Mass to mark the start of the academic year, now underway. Students and staff from four of the other Catholic schools in the Paterson Diocese in New Jersey also attended the liturgy.

Joining the Morris Catholic community for the Mass were students and staff from All Saints Academy in Parsippany, St. Patrick School in Chatham, St. Therese School in the Succasunna neighborhood of Roxbury Township, and Divine Mercy Academy in Rockaway.

Bishop Sweeney was the principal celebrant and homilist of the Mass. Father Peter Clarke, Morris Catholic principal; Father Carmen Buono, a retired diocesan priest and a part-time chaplain for the school; and Father Paul Manning, diocesan vicar for evangelization and education, were among the many concelebrating priests.
