Deacon James “Jim” Robert Hackett Jr., of New Bern, N.C., a Paterson Diocesan permanent deacon, died on June 11. He was 72.
Deacon Hackett was ordained in 2009 and faithfully served St. Matthew the Apostle Parish in Randolph until 2015. For family reasons, he and his wife, Lisa, moved to southern California and then to North Carolina. Since 2018, Deacon Hackett had ministered at St. Paul Parish in New Bern.
Funeral arrangements are not yet complete, although it is anticipated that they will take place in North Carolina, with a Celebration of Life to take place in New Jersey at a later date.
