The Catechetical Leaders Association (CLA) of the Paterson Diocese on Oct. 16 held its first meeting of the school year at St. Paul Inside the Walls in Madison. Twenty-three religious education leaders from around the diocese engaged in a dynamic conversation about topics ranging from registration numbers for the current faith-formation year to new ideas for events to help connect families. Debbie Dericks, CLA president and religious education director of Our Lady of Consolation Parish in Wayne, and Cheryl Wallace, CLA treasurer and religious education director and pastoral associate at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in Sparta, spoke about attending the 10th National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis this past summer. The CLA will hold an Advent retreat on Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Parish in Florham Park. For information about joining CLA and attending its events, email CLA@patersondiocese.org
