Caps fly high for 145 Pope John graduates

On June 5, 145 Pope John XXIII Regional High School graduates in Sparta, N.J., received diplomas with help from Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney during a commencement ceremony that included Mass in the gym.

Bishop Sweeney was the principal celebrant and homilist of the Mass. Several priests concelebrated the liturgy, including Father Paul Manning, vicar for evangelization and education of the Paterson Diocese, N.J.; Father Richard Carton, vice president of the Catholic Academy of Sussex and pastor of Our Lady of the Lake Parish, also in Sparta; and Father John Calabro, a Pope John chaplain and teacher.

Pope John’s valedictorian was Gwendolyn O’Hearn, while its salutatorian was Rylan Chintada. The Class of 2026 earned a total of $32,240,284 in scholarships and financial aid.
