Bishop to help Blue Army Shrine celebrate Fatima apparition

Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney will be the main celebrant on Aug. 13 of an observance of the Jubilee of Hope 2025 and the 108th Anniversary of the fourth apparition of Our Lady of Fatima at the National Blue Army Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Asbury, N.J.

The day’s schedule is as follows:

10:30 a.m.: confessions in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel

Noon: rosary and procession with the Pilgrim Virgin Statue

12:30 p.m.: address by U.S. Rep. Chris Smith of New Jersey’s 4th District

1:15 pm: Mass with Bishop Sweeney

A Eucharistic procession, Benediction, Fatima Farewell, blessing of religious articles, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and enrollment in the Brown Scapular will follow those events.

The World Apostolate of Fatima USA operates the National Blue Mary Shrine, located at 674 Mountain View Road in Washington. The facility features a retreat center, shrine, chapel, 1,400-seat sanctuary, gift shop, and gardens. The shire has also been designated as a place of pilgrimage during the Jubilee Year of Hope.
