The Church of Christ the King in the New Vernon neighborhood of Harding Township on May 6 welcomed Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney, who administered confirmation to 24 parish youths during a Mass he celebrated. Father Brian Sullivan, Christ the King’s pastor; Msgr. Kevin Flannigan, the parish’s weekend assistant; and Msgr. Geno Sylva, rector of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Paterson and the Paterson Diocesan vicar for special projects, concelebrated the Mass with Bishop Sweeney. Msgr. Sylva’s niece, Josefina, was among the confirmed youths.
