Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney visited All Saints Academy in Parsippany, N.J., on the morning of Sept. 11 to celebrate an opening Mass for the academy’s 2026-7 academic year in St. Peter the Apostle Church, also in Parsippany.
In addition, Bishop Sweeney blessed class rings for the 8th graders, distributed them to the students, and recognized them as the Class of 2017.
In his homily, Bishop Sweeney referred to the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, observed that day. He spoke in part to students about local heroes, such as first responders, and how they can serve their communities. The congregation included Raymond and Dana Walter, school parents and officers of the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police, in uniform.

Concelebrating the Mass were Father David Pickens, pastor of St. Peter’s; Father Mark Olenowski, pastor of St. Pius X Parish in Montville, N.J.; Father Nico Quintos, pastor of St. Ann Parish in Parsippany and minister to retired priests in the Paterson Diocese, N.J.; and Father Jose M. Zuniga, parochial vicar of St. Peter’s. Deacon Peter Cistaro of St. Peter’s assisted the liturgy.
All Saints Academy exists and operates under the auspices of four diocesan parishes: St. Ann’s, St. Peter’s, St. Christopher (also in Parsippany), and St. Pius. The four pastors work closely with the principal, Leanne Gonzalez, and collaborate through the school’s Pastors Board, which oversees and guides the organization and functions of the school.
