Think fast! A new Catholic Speed Trivia game, available online, gives players 90 seconds to answer 13 rapid-fire questions about the bible and faith.
Posted on social media in January, the first video of the Catholic Speed Trivia game challenges all viewers, from youths to seniors, to answer questions on a range of faith-based topics. The Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco in North Haledon created the fast-paced game to give Catholics, especially youths, a fun and fast way to brush up on their bible and faith knowledge.
The first Catholic Speed Trivia game covers subjects such as biblical sites, the rosary, the Blessed Mother, worship songs, and the Apostles. Spoiler alert: one question asks players for a fruit of the Holy Spirit that starts with “g” with “gentleness” and “generosity” as possible answers.

Catholic Speed Trivia is available primarily for parishes, families, and religious education classrooms. Players can compete with each other in person using a question-and-answer sheet posted on the Salesian Sisters’ website. They can also play along with — or watch — the video of the sisters sharing laughs while engaging in spirited competition during the first game. You can watch the video, which has netted 2.7 million views on social media, on the sisters’ Instagram page at #salesiansisters.
“Thank you, sisters, for showing us that faith can be fun. May God continue to keep you happy and held in his hand to share that joy you have to the world,” a viewer of the game posted on Instagram.
A second Catholic Speed Trivia game, to be posted in April, will include questions about biblical figures written as emojis, small digital images, or icons used to express ideas or emotions. The question-and-answer sheet is already available on the Salesian Sister’s website.
“The game creatively engages young people and gives them something spiritually enriching on social media like a Catholic version of Jeopardy,” said Sister Christina Chong, head of her religious community’s Social Communications Team, which developed the game. “We primarily minister to young people, so we are familiar with what they like and what’s trending.”
Last year, the team developed the game’s format, wrote the questions, and filmed sisters ministering around the United States playing the first game during a formation weekend at Sacred Heart Retreat Center, which the community runs in Newton.
Sister Monica Wheeler took first place in the first Catholic Speed Trivia game, while Sister Molly Heine notched second.
“I loved playing with the sisters. It’s a great game,” Sister Heine said. She added that Catholic Speed Trivia could “open a special conversation about the faith among the young and in families. It’s fun for anyone from little kids to ‘seasoned people.'”
Visit the Salesians’ website to download the both games’ question-and-answer sheets and discover different ways to play Catholic Speed Trivia. Check back for other games in the future.
