23 Parsippany youth confirmed at Mass on Mother’s Day

St. Christopher Parish in Parsippany, N.J., welcomed Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney, who celebrated Mass on May 10, Mother’s Day. There, the bishop confirmed 23 youth, while the parish also honored mothers in attendance in observance of the national holiday.

Bishop Sweeney was the main celebrant and homilist of the Mass. Father Luis Alberto Hernandez, pastor of St. Christopher’s; Msgr. Francis Duffy, a retired priest of the Paterson Diocese, N.J., and Benedictine Father Anthony Sargent of St. Mary’s Abbey in Morristown, N.J., concelebrated the liturgy with the bishop.

Deacon Luis Carlos Mendez and Deacon Alan Lucibello, both of St. Christopher’s, assisted with the Mass.

Also, mothers were given a gift that included a flower ornament and rosary beads for Mother’s Day.
