Men take step to ordination to permanent diaconate as lectors

Eight men in formation in the permanent diaconate program of the Paterson Diocese recently took the next formal step in their journey to ordination as deacons. Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney on May 30 installed them to the ministry of lector, during a Mass in St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Mountain Lakes. The men are Stephan Deehan, Paul De Pinto, Timothy Dunmyer, James Gillespie, Tobi Ippolito, Thomas Kimble, Gregory Marchesi, and Elmer Maximo. These men are continuing their academic studies and expect to be ordained in spring 2026.
