A funeral Mass was held on Aug. 26 in Holy Family Chapel in the Convent Station neighborhood of Morris Township for Sister Patricia Beaumont, formerly Sister Daniel Margaret, a Sister of Charity of St. Elizabeth.
Sister Beaumont died on Aug. 17 in Morristown Medical Center in Morristown. She was 95. She was a Sister of Charity for 75 years.
Born in Irvington, Sister Beaumont was the oldest of six children. She entered the Sisters of Charity in 1948.
Sister Beaumont earned a bachelor’s degree in French from the College of St. Elizabeth, now St. Elizabeth University, in Convent Station; a master’s degree in French from Fordham University in the Bronx, N.Y.; a master’s degree in theology from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.; a master’s degree in social work from Rutgers University in New Brunswick. She also received a Fulbright Scholarship to study at the Sorbonne in Paris, France.
She taught at the Academy of St. Aloysius in Jersey City, Star of the Sea Academy in Long Branch, St. Vincent Academy in Newark, East Orange Catholic High School, and St. Aloysius High School in Jersey City.
Sister Beaumont was a religious education director in Reading, Mass., and at Our Lady of Lourdes School in West Orange and St. Paul School in Jersey City.
She served in pastoral ministry at St. Joseph Parish in Oradell and Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Ridge-wood. She was a clinical social worker at Good Samari-tan Hospital in Suffern, N.Y.
Sister Beaumont volunteered at St. Vincent Academy in Newark. As a student, teacher, and volunteer at St. Vincent’s for several years, she had a long-standing connection with the school. She also volunteered at Josephine’s Place in Elizabeth.
She was predeceased by her parents and her brother-in-law, Robert Weber. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her sisters, Blanche Weber, Shirley Winrow (Walter), Christine LaPolla (John), and Mary Jacqueline McCarthy (Michael); her brother, Daniel Beaumont (Doreen); and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
