A funeral Mass was held on Aug. 20 in Holy Family Chapel in the Convent Station neighborhood of Morris Township for Sister Mary Fallon, formerly Sister Francis Alice, a Sister of Charity of St. Elizabeth.
Sister Fallon died on Aug. 9 in McAuley Hall Healthcare Center in Watchung. She was 83. She was a Sister of Charity for 65 years.
Born in Boston, Sister Fallon was the oldest of three children. She entered the Sisters of Charity in 1958.
Sister Fallon earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the College of St. Elizabeth, now St. Elizabeth University, in Convent Station; a master’s degree in counseling from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn.; and a master’s degree in administration/supervision from Seton Hall University in South Orange.
She was a teacher at St. Vincent Academy in Newark, and a teacher and principal at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Washington Township, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Ridgewood; and St. Paul School in Clifton.
Sister Fallon also was principal at St. Andrew School in Westwood, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Ridgewood, and the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Hoboken.
She was a crisis counselor at Family Guidance Center in Hackensack, and a student assistance counselor at Assumption/All Saints School in Jersey City; St. Patrick School in Jersey City; DePaul Catholic High School in Wayne; St. Peter School in Jersey City, and Marist High School in Bayonne. Sister also supervised sister students at the College of St. Elizabeth.
Sister Fallon was predeceased by her parents; her brother-in-law, Harold “Mickie” Graham; her nephew-in-law, Francis Hubbard; and her grandnephew, Benedict Priesbe. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her sister, Ann Graham; her brother, Robert D. Fallon; sister-in-law, Marie Fallon; and many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
