People of many cultures gather for All Souls Day Mass at St. Joseph’s Shrine

The Shrine of St. Joseph, located in the Stirling neighborhood of Long Hill Township, held a Mass in Commemoration of the Faithful Departed on Nov. 2, All Souls Day.

The faithful, representing many of the cultures that worship at St. Joseph’s, gathered for the multilingual Mass. Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney celebrated the liturgy in English and Spanish and delivered the homily. Prayers of the faithful were recited in many of the languages and cultures represented. Priests of the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity, who operate St. Joseph’s, concelebrated the Mass, including Trinitarian Father Seraphim Molina, the shrine’s director.

Churchgoers brought photos of their deceased loved ones, which were placed on a display. Bishop Sweeney blessed the display. After the Mass, the congregation pro-ceeded outside to the newly constructed Eternal Peace Garden and Columbarium, where prayers were offered.
