To prepare for the Nativity of Jesus Christ, St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Passaic, N.J., held a bilingual Mass for Simbang Gabi, a traditional Filipino nine-day novena in the days before Christmas, which was celebrated by Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney on Dec. 20. For each Christmas season, a Simbang Gabi celebration is held at several local churches in the Paterson Diocese in New Jersey. Filipino members of St. Anthony’s organized Simbang Gabi at the parish.
