Parsippany parish hosts Filipino celebration in preparing for Christ’s birth

St. Christopher Parish in Parsippany on Dec. 23 welcomed Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney, who celebrated a Mass for Simbang Gabi. The Mass is typically part of Simbang Gabi, a nine-day novena, a Filipino tradition in anticipation of the birth of Christ. The priests concelebrating the Mass included Father Vidal Gonzales, Jr., consultant/advisor of the Diocesan Commission for Catholic Filipino Ministries and pastor of Notre Dame of Mount Carmel Parish in the Cedar Knolls neighborhood of Hanover Township.
