A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 13 at St. Francis Church in Hoboken for Dennis Michael Potter of Hoboken, who died on Feb. 9, surrounded by his family. He was 62.
Born in 1963, Potter was the youngest of five siblings. He was the brother of Timothy Potter, the chief development officer of the Paterson Diocese. He graduated from Bergen Catholic High School and St. John’s University Pharmacy School in 1986.
Potter was an avid reader, especially of books related to history and politics. He also enjoyed sports and attending games with his family and friends. He was a fan of Notre Dame Football, the St. John’s basketball team, the Mets, and the Giants. Potter also was an avid traveler, taking many trips with his family and closest friends.
Potter’s proudest roles were those of father and husband. He instilled the importance of family life and reminded his son, Matthew, of the value of his education.
He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife of 33 years,
Jeannine Ali; his son, Matthew Potter; his siblings, Richard (Mary) Potter, Ellen (Phil) Dowling, Edward “Ned” (Rosemary) Potter, and Timothy “Timmy” (Mary) Potter; his cousins, Thomas (Joyce) Hogan and Maureen Salzmann; his unofficial sisters-in-law, Maryalice and Megan Dunne; his brothers-in-law, Joe Ali (Barbara) and Frank Ali (Laura); and many nieces and nephews.
