St. Joseph Parish in Mendham on Dec. 18 welcomed Bishop Kevin J. Sweeney, who celebrated 7 p.m. Mass as the Paterson Diocese and the Universal Church prepare for the Jubilee Year of Hope 2025. He gave an Advent reflection about the importance of prayer in anticipation of the Holy Year. Msgr. Joseph Anginoli, St. Joseph’s pastor and diocesan adjutant judicial vicar, and Father Vic Leviste, the parish’s parochial vicar, concelebrated the Mass. Bishop Sweeney will celebrate the opening Mass of the Jubilee of Hope in the diocese on Sunday, Dec. 29, the Feast of the Holy Family, at 3 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Paterson.
